1987 - KCM Services was founded as a privately owned limited entity through a partnership between Engineering Manager Keith Badham and Hull-based Swan Power Transmission in Lorraine Street, Hull UK.
KCM initially provided vibration monitoring, vibration analysis and dynamic balancing. Our very first routine being the monthly vibration monitoring of 24 compressors for a Unilever refrigeration plant (this contract continued for 10 years until the facility was closed down due to works relocation). |
1988 - Total company ownership transferred to Keith Badham after his purchase of Swan Power Transmissions 50% holding.
KCM offers clients a fully comprehensive Thermal Image Survey service in addition to our Vibration Analysis Condition Monitoring.
1987-2006 - KCM is established and industry recognised as an authority in the field of Condition Monitoring, applying the techniques in a PRACTICAL fashion to improve reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, and eliminating wasteful routines wherever appropriate.

Mobil Shipping (Now International Marine Transportation or IMT)
Vibration monitoring and Thermal Imaging on crude and product oil tankers. Applying condition monitoring techniques to improve reliability and also avoiding wasteful maintenance routines were appropriate. This account has been running for over 12 years.
British Petroleum Chemicals
Routine vibration monitoring in excess of 1,000 rotating machines, mostly pumps and fans on a large Chemical Complex. Also Thermographic inspections of electrical panels and pressure vessel insulations. This account has been active for over 15 years.
Singleton Birch Quarries
Thermographic survey service carried on Kilns and Electrical panels for 7-8 years, and have now set up and are carrying out routine vibration monitoring on the site conveyor drives, fans and pumps.
Corus, Workington
Vibration monitoring of site production drives and Thermographic inspection of all electrical panels, contract has been running for some 10 years+.
Shell Exploration
Offshore application of Condition Monitoring techniques, again to improve reliability and avoid unnecessary routines. This account has been running for over 12 years in various locations, Southern and Northern North Sea and Sabah and Sarawak gas platforms.
T.T.S. Inspection Services
T.T.S. is a wholly owned subsidiary of T.L.V. Japan (Steam Systems) and was started 7 years ago as a Condition Monitoring Service. KCM was employed to train the Engineers in all aspects of Condition Monitoring initially in Japan and subsequently wherever the expertise was required.
